Originally formed as a gospel quartet in the 1950s, The Isley Brothers went on to massive success in a decades-spanning career which has seen them produce music in genres from doo-wop to R&B, funk, soul and rock.

Reaching their third decade as a musical act in the 1970s, The Isley Brothers continued to reinvent themselves with line-up changes and new sounds ranging from 1973 s hit rock anthem Summer Breeze to the smash hit slow jam Don’t Say Goodnight (It s Time for Love) in 1980, incorporating elements of funk and disco along the way.

The 1983 release of the album Between The Sheets brought yet another revolution in the band's sound, as they added synthesizers and electronic beats. The title track became a smash hit, bringing the digital era to the top of the R&B charts, where it reached #3. The track also achieved international success, reaching the UK Singles chart. The oft covered follow-up single, Choosey Lover, gave the band their second consecutive top ten R&B hit, reaching #6.
