Das Label Soundway setzt erneut die Segel für eine Fahrt Richtung Kolumbien, der Heimat der Cumbia. Diesmal wollen die Klangarchäologen noch tiefer in die Geschichte dieser Musik eintauchen. Auf 55 Tracks geht die historische Reise zurück bis ins Jahr 1948 zu den frühsten dokumentierten Anfängen der Cumbia und der Porro, einem Subgenre.

Die erste CD erzählt die Geschichte des Siegeszugs der Cumbia von ihrem Entstehungsort an der karibischen Küste bis nach Zentralkolumbien und in die Hauptstadt Bogota. Die zweite CD dokumentiert die Entwicklung des Stils, der von Künstlern wie Alberto Pacheco, Toño Fernandez und Anibal Velasquez mittels neuer Instrumente und Einflüsse weiterentwickelt wurde. Kompiliert wurde das Ganze von Will "Quantic" Holland (u. a. Quantic Soul Orchestra), der dafür Hunderte alter Schellacks und Vinylplatten durchhörte. Ein Muss für jeden Fan lateinamerikanischer Musik.
